Stowe Mountain Resort, Vermont Hot

stowe-hotelsStowe Mountain Resort may not have the elevation and size of the Rocky Mountain resorts, but it gets about as much snow with an average 333 inches per year.

Mansfield Peak in Stowe Mountain Ski Area pridefully stands at a summit elevation of 4395 feet offering a highest vertical drop of about 2100 feet. Stowe Mountain Resort's 485 acres of skiable area are accessible by one of its 13 lifts. Stowe brags to have more mile long lifts than any other resort in the East. There are 116 trails but Stowe Mountain is quite the park and pipe playground for skiers and boarders.

Stowe Mountain Resort's two mountains break up into six distinct sections offering something different in each area. Most popular is the Mansfield Triple. Two freestyle terrain parks, a halfpipe and other goodies occupy this zone. Along with that trifecta of fun are Tyro, offering "air time" jump features, and Midway for the beginners. Off the mountain, Stowe continues to entertain and accommodate.

Open in 2008, Stowe Mountain Lodge not only has every amenity one could want, but also does so with the environment in mind. It is the only resort in the U.S. awarded Audubon International's sustainable community award. Solstice, the 110 seat restaurant at the lodge, offers cuisine created with local Vermont products. The 21,000 square foot spa provides relaxation in any form your mind and body desire.

Stowe Mountain Lodge isn't the only place to stay. There are numerous smaller charming inns, hotels, B & B's, and more to choose from at the base and in town.

Alternately to the downhill, strap on some snowshoes at the Nordic Center. Hike through a white dusted forest on rolling trails layden with trees and streams. It's a peaceful and beautiful way to experience Stowe.

It's a quaint town with a lot of character. If you're looking for more than just kickin' it on the mountain, Stowe is an ideal destination.
