At 14, Ty Walker is Roxy's Newest Pro Rider Hot

Ty WalkerAt age 14 most teenagers are managing their freshman year of high school or looking for a part time summer job; Ty Walker, on the other hand, is still in eighth grade, just resigned with the Roxy brand and considered one of the top up-and-coming female snowboard stars.

The newest deal between the all female brand Roxy and Walker, of Stowe, Vermont, is a three-year agreement, which reportedly involves boards, outerwear and eyewear.

Walker, already a member of Roxy as one of its ‘groms,’ is now considered a Pro Snow Team rider as part of the deal.

“Ty is a rare bird–she has the confidence and wisdom of a seasoned pro, while at such a young age her love and excitement for snowboarding is still so fresh,” said Amber Stackhouse, Roxy Snow Team Manager. “It’s fun to be around her and see how fired up she is about riding, learning and pushing the sport.”

Walker began riding at age seven, and now at 14-years-old, she’s set the snowboarding world on fire. She already owns titles in slopestyle at the 2011 USASA Nationals at Copper Mountain, Colorado in the Open Class Division and won the 2011 Roxy Powder Jam at Mammoth Mountain, California.

Ty is also the three-time defending champion at the European Open Junior Jam (2009-11) and finished third in slopestyle at the Canadian Open Pro Division this year.

An all-around great athlete and student, Walker is a straight-A student and plays field hockey and first-base on an all-boys baseball team at home.

Walker commented on the new deal, “Being a pro on the Roxy team has always been one of my biggest goals. To me, they are all about style, progression, having fun while snowboarding and doing what you love. These are things I really try to demonstrate in my riding.”

“Roxy is really unique because it’s an all girls company that promotes women in a male dominated sport and riding for them is a dream come true,” she added.
