Summer Snowdown 2011 Offers Media 2011-12 Preview Hot

fisherSnowSport Industries America (SIA) held its 5th Annual Summer Snodown product exhibition in New York City on Wednesday, offering an exclusive media-only sneak peak of next year’s hottest products.

The likes of DAKINE, Fisher Skis, Helly Hansen, Obermeyer, Salomon/Bonfire and Spyder tantalized snow junkies with the latest and greatest gear expected to heat up the slopes for the 2011-12 ski season.

It’s estimated that 60-plus media outlets, from the Boston Globe to Women’s Health attended the showcase event, representing upwards of 70-million subscribers.

Exhibitors paid $3,500 to reserve space at the expo, but the price is well worth the media exposure when you consider the number of mentions each company gets and the positive reaction by the media.

Alice Oglethorpe of Shape gives a succinct explanation of why this particular event is so effective, “After running around meeting with different companies, it’s nice to go to just one event where so many different brands are represented. It saved me time - plus seeing it all together at the Snowdown made it easier to imagine story ideas.”

Each winter, SIA also hosts the wildly popular Snow Show event in Denver, CO. In terms of size and duration, Summer Snowdown doesn’t compare, yet both are critical to the development and longevity of the snowsport industry.

Next year’s event is scheduled for January 26-29, 2012 at the Colorado Convention Center and SIA is reporting the show is already sold out.
