Shaun White Signs with Vail Resorts

Shaun White Signs with Vail ResortsVail Resorts announced that Shaun White has signed a multiyear deal with the mega company's six ski resorts on Tuesday.

White will now call California's ‘Northstar at Tahoe’ his home mountain and even has plans to design his very own 22-foot halfpipe at the Tahoe-area ski resort.

"This feels like a homecoming because I have spent so much time riding at most of Vail Resorts' mountains," White said. "With Northstar as my home mountain, I now have the ideal place to train and continue to grow as an athlete and I am looking forward to all the possibilities this partnership brings."

As part of the deal, Vail Resorts will donate $5 to White's charity of choice, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, for every Epic Pass it sells.

White, who was born with a heart deficiency that required two open-heart procedures before he turned a year old,  has long been a supporter of St. Jude Hospital.

Rob Katz, chairman and chief executive office of Vail resorts, said, “Shaun White is the ultimate personification of the new energy and vibrancy we see across the mountain resort industry. Shaun’s creativity and innovation has led the way for the self-expression we see in the halfpipes and terrain parks at all six of our resorts.

Katz, whose Vail Resorts now joins Target, Burton, Oakley and Hewlett-Packard as White's top sponsors. The Vail Resorts partnership now replaces White's longterm deal with Park City Mountain Resort.

“Shaun embodies the same leadership we aspire to at Vail Resorts, as we constantly look for ways to improve and re-invent the guest experience. We are excited to partner with Shaun and are thrilled to start our collaboration with a promotion that allows us to celebrate his creativity and commitment to give back to those in need,” Katz said.
