Arapahoe Basin Opens For 2012 Season

Arapahoe Basin opening dayAt 9:00 on Friday morning, the ski lifts at Arapahoe Basin Ski Resort began turning once again.  The Keystone, Colorado ski resort opened for the 2011-2012 season after being closed for only 100 days.

 A-Basin, as it is commony called, boasts a season lasting more than 10 months, the longest in North America.  Melanie Mills, president and CEO of Colorado Ski USA, Arapahoe Basin's parent company, said, "After an impressive season that extended for 10 months last year, it’s exciting that resorts are starting lifts and offering skiing in October."  

More than 350 inches of snow are expected for the season.  The slopes there already have a base layer of 18 inches, with 5 inches accumulating in the past 3 days.
