Club Med Opening New Ski Resort

Club Med ValmorelThe iconic French all-inclusive resort chain plans to open a new ski resort in the French alps.  Club Med Valmorel is located in the Tarantaise Valley and is expected to rank among the world's premier luxury ski destinations.

The resort offers three kinds of accomodations that cater to couples, families, or larger groups.  The luxury chalet apartments give guests the option of having a maid and butler during their stay.  Children aged 4 months to 17 years can enjoy the resort's variety of activities and specialized care.

Architecht Pierre Diener designed the resort's facilities in the traditional architecture of Savoy, the region in which Club Med Valmorel is located.  Constructed of wood, stone, and slate, the buildings of the resort take on the character of the surrounding natural environment.  The project, which will include 80 chalet apartments, cost nearly $120 million.

Club Med Valmorel will offer more than 93 miles of ski area.  Ski and snowboard lessons as well as ski passes are included in the club's all-inclusive fee.  In addition to skiing and snowboarding, the resort will offer snowshoeing, hiking, and ice skating.  Guests at Club Med Valmorel will have the option of 2 restaurants as well as a specialty gourmet restaurant located on the premises of the resort.  The resort also features a spa opperated by Carita, where guests can be pampered after a long day on the slopes.
