January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month Hot

Learn_to_Ski_and_SnowboardJanuary is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month (LSSM), and it's fast approaching. To spread the word, organizers of the event recently launched a new site to make finding resources easy for anyone who wants to learn how to ski or snowboard.

At www.skiandsnowboardmonth.org, anyone interested in these events can learn where the nearest programs and retail shops are via a zip code search. The site also lists practical information for consumers and participants of Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month so that they can have the most enjoyable learning experiences possible.

“The beauty of this program is its flexibility,” said the director for Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month, Mary Jo Tarallo. “We provide the tools so the partners can be as creative as possible in crafting programs that suit their needs. All we ask is that they present a viable learning program during January.”

More than 300 locations across the country are participating in Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month this January. Last year, 75,000 beginner lessons were taught by professional ski and snowboard instructors. Information about all participating locations can be found on the website for anyone who wants to be actively involved in these wintertime activities.

“We wanted to make the site easy to navigate,” said Tarallo. “This initiative is about de-mystifying skiing and snowboarding for those who are new. It offers information that is useful for beginners and also those who want to improve their skills.”

Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month is a national initiative that is also supported by many professional snowboarders and skiers. World champion skier Daron Rahlves is the most recent ambassador for LSSM. Olympic gold medalist Bode Miller and extreme skier Glen Plake are also ambassadors for this event.
