Three Resorts Are Now Open in Colorado Ski Country

Colorado_Ski_SeasonThree resorts are now open in Colorado Ski Country. The 2011-2012 ski season was kicked off with the opening of Arapahoe Basin on October 13, followed by Loveland Ski Area on October 14, and Wolf Creek opening for its second weekend of skiing and riding on the 15th.

The snowmakers at Arapahoe Basin have been tirelessly working to create quality conditions for their opening weekend, including generating several inches of fresh snow in the time leading up to their opening day.

Colorado’s ski season is well known as being one of the longest in the country. Arapahoe Basin was closed for only 100 days before opening on the 13th, after closing in early July. This was the longest season that they had had in 14 years.

Melanie Mills, president and CEO of Colorado Ski Country USA, said, “After an impressive season that extended for 10 months last year, it’s exciting that resorts are starting lifts and offering skiing in October.”
