History is made as China hosts first big snowboarding event

air-style-2010

The Shaun White and Oakley presents Ticket to Ride (TTR) Air and Style contest will kick off this Saturday, Dec. 3, in Beijing. This marks the first TTR 6-star event of the season, and the largest snowboarding event to ever be held in China. The Air and Style contest will be held at the Olympic Sports Center Stadium in the heart of Beijing, as 16 riders from 13 countries will compete for the number one spot.

Although there are no Chinese snowboarders on the TTR circuit, this event shows China’s growing interest in the sport. Prior to the event, some of China’s best snowboarders will have a chance to show off their skills to the thousands of anticipated fans in an attempt to prove that they deserve a chance to ride with the top dogs.

Over $130,000 and the sterling silver “ring of glory” are among top prizes.
