Broken leg could means end of season for Chemmy Alcott

chem_alcott_2Chemmy Alcott, Britian's top female skier, was airlifted today after crashing during a training session and breaking her leg.

Alcott, who competes in downhill, super G, combined, and slalom events, was in her final alpine skiing training session before the opening of the women’s downhill World Cup skiing race in Lake Louise, Alberta. During her run, she took a nasty fall on the Coaches Corner course, resulting in an open fracture of the tibia and fibula in her right leg.

Upon being airlifted to a Banff, Alberta hospital, Alcott, 28, underwent surgery on the broken leg. Doctors say Alcott will be out for the rest of the season.
