Abu Dhabi hotel displays world’s most expensive Christmas tree Hot

Who says money doesn’t grow on trees? A luxury Abu Dhabi hotel has put up a jewel-encrusted Christmas tree with a net worth over $11 million. The evergreen, draping with diamonds, necklaces, earrings, and other fine jewels, is standing at over 40 feet tall in the rotunda of the seven-star Emirates Palace hotel.

While the faux tree itself is worth nearly $10,000, the trimmings alone push the tree’s value to over $11 million.  The tree is under review by the Guinness Book of World Records to be certified as the world’s most expensive tree in history.

The tree is decorated with jewelry that contains over 180 diamonds, pearls, emeralds, sapphires, and other precious stones, along with more traditional trimmings such as lights and ornaments. The jewelry for the tree was provided by Khalifa Khouri, owner of the Style Gallery.

The hotel and its multi-million dollar Christmas tree are under 24/7 security and surveillance. Four security guards closely monitor the tree at all times, in addition to many security cameras.
