UGG Jumps Into Snowboard Market with 'Rad Kimono"

From form to function, or a combination of both, UGG is entering the snowsport industry with the Rad Kimono women’s snowboard boot.

UGG, the Australian fashion giant that has taken the industry by storm in recent years, has fashioned the Rad Kimono after its best selling model, the Classic Short Kimono.

The fashion inspired boot isn’t just for looks; the Rad Kimono comes with all of the critical elements that serious snowboarders expect out of typical equipment. The Double Boa lacing system allows for customized lacing and variable tightness depending on a person’s preference.

UGG also included an inner-ankle harness that supports and flexes with your ankles as you twist and turn on your board.

The sole on this boot is hardy, yet versatile, allowing for full function while on a board, but still comfortable enough to walk in whether you’re in the lodge or out with friends after a session.

And, the Rad Kimono comes clad with UGG’s signature fur lining that has been providing warmth and comfort to customers for years.

Folks at UGG are excited about its new offering. Angel Martinez, CEO of the Decker Outdoor Corporation, the parent company of UGG, said, “Everybody loves snowboarding, but most people get really cold feet while doing or even watching it! We are confident that our upcoming line of UGG snowboard boots will bridge the often overlooked gap between cozyness and radness.”

UGG boots have been sold in the United States since the late 1970s through UGG Holdings, Inc. and then Decker, after sheepskin boots gathered immense popularity in Australia and New Zealand for decades. Though profits were humble for years here in the States, Decker stock rose 2400% from 1995 (when it purchased UGG) until 2010. The stock doubled in 2010 alone.

Now, investors will wait and see if entrance into the snowboard market with strengthen and already solid stock price.
