Winter Sports in West VirginiaWhen people think of winter sports, how often do they think of West Virginia? Not nearly as often as they should. West Virginia has a lot to offer to individuals, couples, and families looking for fun in the snow: skiing, snowboarding, sledding, and everything else you can do in the winter snow.

Here's a short video compilation of some of the things that are available for your entire family right in West Virginia during the winter:

West Virginia as a destination for skiing can be traced back to 1950 when sports enthusiasts started developing Canaan Valley for skiing. There are now many different areas for downhill skiing and snowboarding, like the Winterplace Ski Resort, Snowshoe Mountain, Timberline, Elk River Touring Center, and Alpine Lake Resort. There are also thousands of miles of cross-country skiing throughout the state.
