Görgl Extends Sponsorship Deal with HEAD Hot

HEADThe winter sport equipment manufacturer, HEAD, and Austrian Alpine skier Elisabeth Görgl are announcing a contract renewal that will keep the two-time world champion with the brand through the Sochi Olympics in 2014.

Görgl is coming off a career year in 2011 that saw her win gold in the Downhill and Super-G at the World Championships held in Garmisch. She also holds a bronze medal at the 2009 Worlds in Super Combined.

The 2010 Vancouver Olympics were also a successful venture for Görgl, winning two bronze medals in Downhill and Giant Slalom.

Throughout her World Cup career, she’s stood atop 27 podiums, three of which on the top step as the victor.

Commenting on the extension, HEAD-race director Rainer Salzgeber said. “Lizz is very professional. Considering her abilities it’s obvious that she will be one of the candidates for winning the Overall World Cup next season. We are very happy that Lizz has decided to stay with our team and that we’ll be able to continue this successful cooperation.”

To that, Görgl replied, “I am not looking for any more experiments in my career.

I fully trust in my equipment and the whole team working with be successful I need the fastest skis I can get – and I already have them!”

HEAD is considered to have assembled one of the best collection of ski racing talent with the following athletes under sponsorship: Lindsey Vonn, Bode Miller, Aksel Lund Svindal, Maria Riesch, Anja Pärson and Ted Ligety,

The company also sponsors tennis stars such as: Novak Djokovic, Andrew Murray, Robin Soderling, Marin Cilic, Ivan Ljubicic, Maria Sharapova and Svetlana Kuznetsova,

Exact pecifics regarding details of the contract and sponsorship were not made available, but Görgl will receive HEAD skis, bindings and ski boots.
